SpecialityCruises is the project name for a series of five yachts to be commissioned over the next five to seven
years. The yachts are first and foremost aimed at mini-cruise and charter
operation in all climatic zones, spanning northern (cold) to tropical
climatic zones. The yachts will operate for up to 45 weeks per annum, and in the
north, for as
long in the weather conditions permit. The yachts are not aimed to traffic routes in icy conditions and should not therefore be
constructed as ice-breaking vessels or be built to ice classification, but
shall although be constructed to withstand light ice conditions, or day-old, up
to 2 inches (50 mm) thick. Consequently, the underwater section and then
particularly the bow section and up to about 6 feet (1.8 meters) above the
water
line need to be reinforced, from fore to about amidships.
The yachts shall be built to high mechanical standards, especially with regard
to sea-worthiness with the ability to withstand high seas and foul weather in
its truest sense such as hurricane force winds and 20-foot plus breaking seas
(state 5). Even though cruises will not purposely be planned to operate in
such foul
weather conditions, the possibility of such conditions always exist and can come upon
any vessel at short notice, why the vessel must be able to withstand such
adverse conditions. If possible the vessels should be self-righting.
Even though final designs are still to be determined the emphasis would be on a
vessel with a relatively deep ballasted hull, with a low center of gravity,
while still retaining the visual appearance of an elegant luxury yacht. The
emphasis on the deep ballasted hull further implies extraordinary capabilities
to take on adverse weather conditions and heavy seas, without serious damage to
vessel, equipment or persons onboard.
Consequently, we are looking for extraordinary vessels, vessels that look like
fine exclusive yachts, but underneath are rugged, safe, warm and cozy, with just
about all amenities that you would find in a five star hotel. We have certainly
some design in mind and have discussed the design in great detail with a number
of naval architects, but have not as yet concluded any agreements.
We would appreciate if you contacted us with any proposals you may have.
